OUR MISSION
Protection of natural resources - an economic necessity
The establishment of a national Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) implies both rights and obligations. The right to the marine and seabed resources are linked to an obligation to monitor and protect the zone from both pollution and uncontrolled exploitation. The need for general sea traffic control and a readiness for search and rescue operations are ever present. Add to this the need for boder patrol to prevent smuggling, illegal immigration and other illicit cross-border activities and the justification for regular airborne maritime surveillance missions is obvious.
There is also a growing awareness that the resources of the Earth are limited. There is therefore a growing necessity to protect the resources of the oceans, including the protection against illegal fishing. Over the years, all these considerations have demonstrated the need for the SSC Maritime Surveillance System.
30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

|
Swedish Space Corporation first developed an airborne remote sensing system for the Swedish Coast Guard in the 70’s. Now, several system generations and deliveries later, the SSC Maritime Surveillance System is in operational use in a number of countries around the world. |

Based on the ideas and suggestions we had received from our users, we develo-ped a completely new generation of the Maritime Surveillance System, the MSS 5000, this flew for the first time in June 1998. The MSS 5000, has since gained a wide acceptance. After the first flight, the MSS 5000 has been supplied to Norway (1 system), Sweden (1 system), Poland (2 systems), Greece (Hellenic Coast Guard: 3 systems, Hellenic Air Force 2 systems) and USA (US Coast Guard: 3 systems). |

 2007 |
Inspired by the success of the MSS 5000 we have taken another step forward in designing the MSS 6000, with a large number of improvements based on feedback from users and the new possibilities provided by new technology. The first MSS 6000 system was commissioned by Transport Canada’s Marine Safety branch in November 2006. |
