Medical Services
There is a hospital in Kiruna, as well as several dental clinics. Esrange supplies a first aid and emergency treatment facility on site, but no medical staff.

Most types of shops are found in Kiruna and some in Jukkasjärvi. For further information please contact the Esrange reception desk.
Religious Services
A Protestant Church is located in Jukkasjärvi and one in Kiruna. Services are normally held on Sundays at 11.00 a.m.
Bank Services
Changing money and cashing traveller's cheques can be done in all banks in Kiruna. They are open from 09.30 to 15.00 and are also open late once a week. Teller machines are available where most credit cards are accepted.
Recreation
In Kiruna, there are facilities for many popular sports such as swimming, bowling, downhill skiing etc. If you prefer somewhat calmer activities there are, cinemas, restaurants, some cafes, and a library to visit.
In the village of Jukkasjärvi, there is a Lappish church, built in the 17th century, and a Lappish museum, Hembygdsgården, which are worth visiting. In wintertime the world famous ICEHOTEL is constructed and in summertime white water rafting and other activities are arranged.
In the city of Kiruna, the Town Hall, the Church and Hjalmar Lundbomsgården are places of interest. The iron mine of Kiruna is the world's largest underground mine. Visits to the mine are arranged by Kiruna Lappland Tourist Office. Now and then there are exhibitions and concerts to attend, mostly in the Town Hall and in Folkets Hus.
The scenery around Esrange and Kiruna is beautiful all the year round. Walking and cross-country skiing are very pleasant activities. From December to June good downhill ski slopes are available in Kiruna and its surroundings. Going by the railway or driving the road to Narvik, Norway, can be recommended. The distance to Narvik is 180 km winding through "The last wilderness of Europe", a sensational landscape with valleys, high mountains and fjords. Three famous resorts, Abisko, Björkliden and Riksgränsen, are situated along this route
